Arsenal youngster Ceadach O'Neill is in line to make his senior debut for the club against Fleetwood Town in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup this evening, with Mikel Arteta considering handing the Northern Irish striker his first first-team minutes.
The 18-year-old was spotted in first-team training ahead of the match, and fans are eager to see the latest academy graduate given a chance. Arsenal supporters have become accustomed to seeing talents from the academy break into the first team, with Max Dowman, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Ethan Nwaneri all afforded competitive debuts by Arteta in recent seasons.
Who is Ceadach O'Neill?
Ceadach O'Neill is a Northern Irish striker who first earned headlines when he made his senior debut as a 15-year-old for Linfield in his native Northern Ireland back in 2024. Shortly after his first minutes in men's football, Arsenal offered the forward a trial before promptly signing him.
In April 2025, O'Neill signed his first professional contract, shortly after becoming eligible for the first time after turning 17. Already capped four times by Northern Ireland at senior level, he was named on the bench for FA Cup fixtures against Wigan and Southampton last season.
International commitment and playing style
Northern Ireland quickly moved to tie down O'Neill for the rest of his international career, with the striker pursued by the Republic of Ireland to switch allegiances. After two appearances in friendlies in the summer against Guinea and France, O'Neill became locked in following minutes off the bench against Georgia during the last international break.
Capable of leading the line or playing on the wing and even as an attacking midfielder, O'Neill is described as having plenty of pace while being able to deal with the physical demands of the men's game. With 16 goals in 41 appearances for the under-18s, O'Neill was moved up to the under-21s, where he has scored two goals in eight matches.
