Michael Carrick praised Manchester United's "fantastic" display in their 2-0 derby victory over Manchester City, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu securing the win in his first match back as interim head coach.
The 42-year-old, appointed until the end of the season, stressed the need for consistency, saying his team must make such performances a "version of normal" and live up to the standards set.
"That's the challenge ultimately – it needs to be a version of normal," Carrick said. "Consistency is the key to any success…we've got to find a way of doing that." United next visit Arsenal on Sunday week.
Pep Guardiola conceded City are "not ready" for the title race after failing to win any of their opening four league games, but insisted he was satisfied with performances. He also claimed Diogo Dalot should have been sent off for stamping on Jérémy Doku.
On Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, Guardiola said a move appeared close but he had no confirmation from club executives.
