"Listen, Sir Alex had the biggest impact on me—I think that's pretty obvious to say because of everything we achieved here," Carrick explained. "But I think just learning and knowing that I've never got all the answers and to just keep searching for more experience. That's why the staff are there to help in that regard."

"It's the ultimate role. I'm really enjoying it, I love what I'm doing. I'm fortunate," Carrick said. "I feel privileged to be in the position I am, but it's not the fact that I believe I can do it and I'm here to do it. I don't decide how long that's going to be, but I love being here, and while I'm here, I'll give everything I can."
