Michael Carrick has praised the work of coach Travis Binnion after Benjamin Sesko scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner for Manchester United against Fulham. The Slovenia international came off the bench to secure a 3-2 victory in the 94th minute on Sunday, moving United into the Premier League's top four.
Sesko, who joined from RB Leipzig for £74m in the summer, has struggled for consistency, scoring six goals in 21 appearances. He missed an early header against the post before netting the decisive goal from Bruno Fernandes' cross. Carrick credited Binnion, promoted from the under-21s following Ruben Amorim's sacking, for one-on-one work with the striker.
'Huge moment. I'm so, so pleased,' Carrick said. 'The coaches have done a lot of bits on the side, and Trav particularly has done a lot of work one-on-one with him. Ben's a big talent ... after missing a chance, to go again and put that away, absolutely so, so pleased from him.'
Binnion joined United in 2019 from Sheffield United's academy, coaching the under-16s and under-18s before taking charge of the under-21s in 2023. He retained his first-team role under Carrick after Amorim's dismissal in early January.
Fulham had equalised late through Raul Jimenez and Kevin, but Sesko's winner ensured Carrick's side claimed all three points at Old Trafford.
