Michael Carrick has insisted he is focused solely on Manchester United as a collective rather than his own position ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Leeds. The manager has claimed he is not thinking about the balancing act of his role as head coach following some tough results.
Losses against Hull, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid have piled pressure on the United boss as he sits 13th in the Premier League. Despite these results, Carrick is fully concentrated on the club as a whole as they prepare to face Daniel Farke's side.
Carrick: United bigger than any individual
He explained: "I don't need results. We all need results. It's not about me; Manchester United is bigger than an individual, so please, I don't go into every day thinking about me. It's not about any individual player; it's about this football club and its history."
JJ Gabriel decision imminent
The future of JJ Gabriel looks set to be decided in the coming days, according to Spanish media. Sport claims that "the moment of truth is approaching" for the teenager as he aims to fashion a move out of United.
Gabriel handed in a request to cancel his registration at United last month after his demands of a seven-figure salary and game time were ignored by club chiefs. He has been training individually in Barcelona with links to the Catalan club, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
It is claimed that Real are willing to meet Gabriel's demands of a £8.5million deal over three years with bonuses for his family and agent included. Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund hailed the 16-year-old as a brilliant talent while Barca's chief Deco has publicly denied any interest.
It remains to be seen which club the teenager will hand his talents to but United are swiftly running out of any option to keep him around.
Carrick reveals January plan
Carrick has confirmed that United plan to be active in the January transfer window after stating the club will exit the month stronger than before. When asked what comes next in terms of signings, the 45-year-old said: "When the next transfer window comes, you want to plan and you want to make the best of it.
"Whatever that looks like at this stage, we don't quite know. But without doubt, there's opportunity because the transfer window is open. So we'll definitely be looking at that and trying to come out stronger in whatever way that looks like."
Carrick has not confirmed whether these plans include departures as well with full focus now on the Leeds clash on Sunday afternoon.
