Carabao Cup quarter-final draw: Arsenal face Crystal Palace, Chelsea travel to Cardiff

The draw for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals is complete, featuring a London derby between Arsenal and Crystal Palace. Holders Newcastle United will host Fulham at St James' Park, while Cardiff City welcome Chelsea and Manchester City take on Brentford.

Cardiff are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition after beating League One side Wycombe Wanderers on penalties. Four of Wednesday's five matches were all-Premier League affairs, with Swansea City the exception as they lost 3-1 to Manchester City.

Liverpool, last season's beaten finalists, suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace after manager Arne Slot rang the changes. Tottenham Hotspur lost away to Newcastle, while Arsenal and Chelsea advanced with wins over Brighton and Wolves respectively.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner said his team were not at their best but did enough, telling BBC Radio 5 Live: "First 15 minutes we didn't do well... the performance was OK, but it was not a great performance." Liverpool's Arne Slot defended his youthful selection, stating the club uses the competition for younger players. Newcastle's Eddie Howe praised his team's pressing and attitude.

The quarter-finals will take place in the week commencing 15 December, with exact dates to be confirmed as broadcasters select matches for television coverage.
