Carabao Cup quarter-final draw details as Newcastle await fate

Newcastle United will be in the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw this week, even before their fourth-round game at Everton is played. The Magpies travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Thursday night to play the last of this week's fourth-round fixtures.

While there is no official confirmation yet, the draw for the last eight is expected to take place on Wednesday night following the midweek fixtures, so Newcastle - and Everton - will be in the hat. It means both sides will already know what lies ahead should they win, with a place in the last eight up for grabs.

When is the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw?

The draw is expected to take place on Wednesday, October 28, following the fourth-round tie between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield. It will likely get under way around 10.20pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Newcastle head to Merseyside buoyed by their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, but knowing they need to add consistency to their performances, with Everton then coming to Tyneside for Monday night's Premier League clash.

Who can Newcastle United face?

There are some interesting fourth-round ties, with some guaranteed Premier League casualties and at least one League One side in the quarter-finals. Bradford City host Peterborough United, with a huge tie awaiting the winners of that game, while Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head. League Two strugglers Fleetwood Town will be looking to take a huge scalp when they host Arsenal.

Carabao Cup fourth-round fixtures

Wednesday, October 28: Fulham vs Crystal Palace (7.45pm), Bournemouth vs Aston Villa (7.45pm), Sunderland vs Brentford (7.45pm), Liverpool vs Chelsea (8pm). When will the quarter-final matches be played?

The Carabao Cup quarter-finals will be held on the week commencing Monday, December 14, with games likely to take place on the Tuesday and Wednesday of that week. For Newcastle, that falls between fixtures at Ipswich Town on Saturday, December 12 and Brentford on December 19, so another away tie would mean three games on the road in the space of a week.
