Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has made it clear he is not seeking a transfer in the January window, despite speculation linking him with a move following the sacking of manager Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese midfielder was seen meeting with Amorim's former coach Carlos Fernandes after the dismissal, which fueled rumours of a potential departure.
According to BBC Sport, Fernandes remains committed to the club and plans to evaluate his future at the end of the season, when he will have just one year remaining on his contract. The 31-year-old has been linked with Real Madrid and Saudi side Al-Hilal in the past.
Fernandes recently admitted that he felt the club had wanted him to leave last summer but he decided to stay. 'From the club I felt it was, 'If you go it's not so bad for us',' he said. 'It hurts me a bit. More than hurting me, it makes me sad. I could have left in this transfer window, I would have earned much more money. I would have won many trophies this season, but I decided not to go, not only for family reasons but because I genuinely love the club.'
Fernandes has made 310 appearances for United since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, scoring 103 goals. He will now play under his eighth manager at Old Trafford, with Michael Carrick confirmed as manager until the end of the season after taking over from Darren Fletcher.
