Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has liked a post on social media that appears to be a dig at the club. His official Instagram account liked a post reading: "Never push a loyal person to the point where they no longer care."
The midfielder liked the post after being an unused substitute during United's heavy 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, a result that has pushed Michael Carrick closer to the sack.
Carrick drops Fernandes for first time in five years
Carrick outright dropped Fernandes for the first time in five years after he questioned his tactics following the defeat to Como in the Champions League. During an interview with TNT Sports, Fernandes said: "It's a decision from the staff to not press man-to-man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball."
When Fernandes was asked if Carrick got his tactics wrong, he said: "That's on the manager and staff to see it, not me."
Substitution and warm-up details
Fernandes was substituted in the 66th minute against Como, and shook his head as he walked around the pitch. Carrick subsequently did not acknowledge the midfielder when he made his way back to the bench.
The 32-year-old arrived at Old Trafford for the Bournemouth game with his hood up. Fernandes was sent out to warm up in the 58th minute, but Carrick went on to use all his substitutions and did not introduce him to the game.
Contract situation and transfer interest
Fernandes' contract expires at the end of the season, but United have the option to extend his deal by 12 months. The Portugal international received a lucrative offer to sign for Al-Hilal last year, however, he turned the proposal down for a combination of family reasons and believing in Rúben Amorim's project.
