Sporting Lisbon manager Silas has hinted that Bruno Fernandes could leave the club this January, with Manchester United reportedly interested in the midfielder. The 25-year-old has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions.
Speaking in his press conference, Silas admitted he is considering alternatives in case Fernandes departs before the January 31 deadline. 'I'm starting to think of alternatives within our team if Bruno doesn't stay with us,' he said. 'In Portugal, unfortunately, we can't keep the best players for long. Bruno is the best player in the league.'
Reports emerged that representatives from Sporting are at United's offices negotiating a deal. However, Silas claimed he has no direct information about a potential move. 'I don't have it. Since I hear so much, sometimes it's inevitable to think about it,' he added.
Fernandes was linked with United in the summer, but no transfer materialised. The Red Devils are also reportedly monitoring Jack Grealish, James Maddison, and Emre Can as they seek to strengthen their midfield. United face Norwich at Old Trafford on Saturday as they chase a top-four finish.
