Bruno Fernandes dropped by Man United for Bournemouth

Bruno Fernandes is expected to be dropped by Manchester United for today's visit of Bournemouth in the Premier League after publicly criticising manager Michael Carrick.

United take on the Cherries at 2pm this afternoon with Carrick under increasing pressure after a run of seven games without a win across all competitions.

Captain Punished After Tactical Criticism

According to The Athletic, Carrick has decided to punish his captain by removing him from the starting XI after Fernandes questioned the coaching staff's tactical approach in Wednesday's 4-1 defeat in Italy. Fernandes suggested United needed to press opponents more aggressively, and said the decision not to adopt a man-to-man pressing system was down to the coaching staff.

Carrick has not confirmed whether the midfielder will retain his place, but Fernandes is not expected to be dropped or stripped of the captaincy.

Carrick's Response

Speaking ahead of Sunday's game, Carrick refused to rule out dropping his captain. Asked about the possibility, he told reporters: "The most important thing for me is the team, the squad and dynamics in the squad."

"It's about the football club. I'll always do what is best for the football club."

Injury Concerns and Team News

United are dealing with several injury concerns, with Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte expected to miss out. Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford are also doubts.

Carrick's starting line-up will be confirmed by the club at 12.45pm GMT.
