Brooks Koepka has given a rare insight into his 'family issues' after a year of heartbreak and tragedy away from the golf course. It has been a topsy-turvy few months for the American's professional and personal life, after he quit the Saudi-backed LIV Golf breakaway series to return to the PGA Tour at the start of 2026.
More important, though, is the tragic miscarriage he and his model wife Jena Sims dealt with last year, which Koepka has now admitted 'took a toll' on his young family. He rarely opens up about his family life, but this week at the PGA Championship the five-time major champion has shed some light on his mental state in a candid interview.
'We had a lot of family issues go on last year,' he told reporters after shooting a one-under-par 69 at Aronimink on Thursday. 'That took a toll on me... and it definitely took a toll on Jena. That was kind of tough to deal with. Yeah, I mean, at home it's in a much better place. It's easier to come out to work when everything at home lines up. Everything's a lot better.'
Koepka, 36, and Sims, 37, announced the heartbreaking news of their miscarriage in October, sharing a photo of the sonogram on Instagram, alongside a message of support for others in a similar position. 'At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby's heart had stopped beating,' the pair wrote. 'This is a grief no parent is ever prepared for. We are devastated, but remain hopeful to give Krew a sibling one day.'
'Too often, these struggles happen in silence. There is still so much work and research needed to better understand and support women's reproductive health. If you're experiencing or have experienced pregnancy loss or infertility, please know you are not alone.'
The high-profile pair have one son together - a two-year-old named Krew - and they have been pictured regularly together as a young family since getting married in Turks and Caicos back in June 2022. This week, while Koepka competes in the second major championship of the year in Pennsylvania, Sims enjoyed a glamorous night out at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit party in Manhattan on Thursday night. She was pictured in a skimpy outfit on the red carpet, and documented her glitzy NYC night out on Instagram. It is unclear whether she will now hot-foot it across state lines to support her man, but she is a regular behind the ropes at his tournaments.
