Brighton and Hove Albion produced a thrilling comeback to defeat Liverpool 3-2 in the Women's FA Cup semi-final, securing their first-ever appearance in the final. The match, held at the BrewDog Stadium in Merseyside, saw Liverpool take a commanding two-goal lead in the first half through Denise O'Sullivan and Beata Olsson.
First-Half Dominance
Liverpool started strongly, dominating possession and creating several chances. O'Sullivan opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a clinical finish, before Olsson doubled the lead just before half-time with a header from a corner. Brighton struggled to contain Liverpool's attacking play and went into the break trailing 2-0.
Second-Half Fightback
Brighton emerged with renewed energy in the second half. Manuela Vanegas pulled one back in the 55th minute, volleying home from a cross to give the Seagulls hope. The momentum shifted further when Madison Haley equalised in the 72nd minute, slotting home after a defensive lapse from Liverpool.
Dramatic Late Winner
With the score tied at 2-2, both teams pushed for a winner. Deep into added time, substitute Nadine Noordam struck in the 95th minute, firing a low shot past the Liverpool goalkeeper to spark wild celebrations among Brighton players and fans. The final whistle confirmed Brighton's historic victory.
Brighton will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Chelsea and Manchester City in the final on Sunday, 31 May. This marks a significant achievement for the club, which has never before reached the Women's FA Cup final.
