Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly considering Vitor Pereira as a potential candidate for their managerial vacancy, according to sources close to the club. The Portuguese coach has impressed with his work at Nottingham Forest, where he took over as the fourth manager of the season and has guided the team to within touching distance of Premier League safety and a Europa League semi-final.
Pereira's ability to create harmony out of chaos has been key to Forest's turnaround. Despite making eight changes for a recent match at Chelsea, his second-string side secured a convincing victory, showcasing the depth and unity he has fostered. Players like Taiwo Awoniyi and Luca Netz have thrived under his man-management style, with Awoniyi praising the collective mentality instilled by Pereira and his staff.
Since losing his first two league games, Pereira has overseen a run of seven matches without defeat in the Premier League, including impressive away wins at Tottenham and Sunderland. Forest have scored 19 goals in nine league games under his tenure, the highest in the division over that period, while also boasting the third-best defence. His tactical switches have drawn praise, such as the half-time adjustments that turned a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 win against Burnley.
Pereira's relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis facilitated his appointment, and he has since given players like Morgan Gibbs-White greater freedom, allowing them to flourish. Brighton are now weighing up whether to approach Pereira as they seek a replacement for their outgoing manager, though Forest are keen to retain his services given their remarkable progress.
