Brennan Johnson scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory for Tottenham over Brighton, propelling them into the Premier League's top four. The goal came in the sixth minute of added time, with Son Heung-min providing the assist after returning from Asian Cup duty.
Brighton had taken the lead in the 17th minute through a Pascal Gross penalty, awarded after Micky van de Ven fouled Danny Welbeck in the box. The Seagulls dominated much of the first half, with Kaoru Mitoma forcing a save from Guglielmo Vicario, but Tottenham grew into the game.
Pape Sarr equalised for Spurs in the 61st minute, curling home after Dejan Kulusevski's through ball deflected off Lewis Dunk onto the post. Manager Ange Postecoglou then introduced substitutes Yves Bissouma, Johnson, and Son, who combined for the winner.
Brighton had chances to regain the lead, with Welbeck shooting wide and Van de Ven blocking Facundo Buonanotte's strike. However, deep into six minutes of added time, Richarlison played in Son, whose cross was slammed home by Johnson to spark wild celebrations.
The victory was crucial for Tottenham after dropping points at Everton the previous weekend. Brighton, missing manager Roberto De Zerbi due to dental surgery, remained in mid-table.
