Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been named as the Premier League footballer who was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London. The alleged incident occurred on the night of Saturday 6 September while Udogie was out with a friend in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.
Police were called at 11.14pm and a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. The suspect has been bailed while inquiries continue. The Metropolitan Police said the victim reported being threatened with a gun, and another man in his 20s also alleged blackmail and threats from the same individual.
The agent has not been charged with any offence. There is no suggestion that the agent concerned is Udogie’s representative. The alleged incident took place during the September international break when Udogie was not on duty with Italy.
Udogie continued to play for Tottenham, featuring as a substitute in the 13 September league win at West Ham. He also started in the Champions League match against Copenhagen on Tuesday. A Spurs spokesperson confirmed the club is providing support to Udogie and his family but declined further comment due to ongoing legal proceedings.
