Bournemouth to Trigger Semenyo Release Clause
Bournemouth to Trigger Semenyo Release Clause

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League, with the January transfer window set to open in just over a week. The Ghanaian forward has scored eight goals and registered three assists in 16 league appearances this season, making it increasingly difficult for the Cherries to retain his services.

Semenyo's release clause is set at £65 million, comprising an initial £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons. The clause expires on January 10, 2026, a mechanism designed to protect Bournemouth from having to find a last-minute replacement. According to Sky Sports, if Semenyo remains at the club until the end of the season, the clause will drop in the summer.

Standard Sport understands that Chelsea have already made contact regarding the 25-year-old, while Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool are also monitoring the situation. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has expressed his desire to keep the player, stating, 'I don't want to lose him, definitely I don't want to lose him.'

Since the start of last season, Semenyo has scored 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth, and his departure would be a significant blow. The club currently sits 15th in the league, a decline from last campaign's ninth-place finish. Iraola acknowledged the limits of his control, saying, 'At the end of situations, myself as a coach, I don't control... I hope we don't lose him, because it's very, very important for us.'
