Lionel Messi scored a stunning 11-minute hat trick as Inter Miami smashed the MLS regular-season points record with a 6-2 victory over New England Revolution on Saturday night. The Argentine, 37, came off the bench early in the second half and netted three goals and an assist in about 30 minutes, securing his first MLS hat trick.

Teammate Luis Suarez also scored twice as Miami finished with 74 points, surpassing New England's previous record of 73 set in 2021. The team also set a new MLS best winning percentage of .765, breaking the previous mark of .750 held by four teams including the 2021 Revolution.

After the match, co-owner David Beckham addressed the crowd, praising the players and captain. 'Our players are what has made this season successful,' Beckham said. 'But now, tonight we celebrate. Tomorrow, we prepare for Friday, the playoffs.'

Messi and Suarez each finished the regular season with 20 goals, becoming the first MLS teammates to reach that milestone in the same season. FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that Inter Miami will represent the host country in the 2025 Club World Cup.
