Middlesbrough defender Callum Brittain has been so focused on his side's Championship play-off push that he inadvertently forgot his wife's birthday. His partner, Bethany, took to social media to reveal the moment had completely slipped his mind.

Brittain played the full 90 minutes in the goalless draw against Southampton at the Riverside Stadium. The second leg of the play-off is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at 8pm. Bethany laughed off the forgotten birthday on Instagram, writing: "If any Boro fans were worried about his level of focus, he actually forgot my birthday this morning xxx. UTFB," followed by laughing and heart emojis. Meanwhile, Brittain posted about the match atmosphere, only to be reminded by fans. He wrote: "What an incredible atmosphere!
