Tottenham Hotspur showed character to fight back from two goals down and secure a 2-2 draw against Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League group stage. The Norwegian side took a deserved lead through Jens Petter Hauge, who scored twice in the first half to put the hosts in control. Spurs struggled to impose themselves early on, with manager Thomas Frank admitting his side 'struggled' and lacked structure on the ball.
Bodø/Glimt had chances to extend their lead, including a penalty that Kasper Høgh blasted over the bar. Andreas Helmersen also hit the crossbar with an effort that would have made it 3-1. However, Tottenham rallied after the break, with Micky van de Ven heading in a Pedro Porro free-kick to reduce the deficit. The equaliser came late on when a cross from Porro was turned into his own net by a Bodø/Glimt defender.
Frank praised his team's resilience, saying: 'We showed big character to fight back. It’s hugely important that they have that to keep running, keep fighting, to do the right thing.' The result leaves Spurs with work to do in the group, but they avoided a damaging defeat in a hostile Arctic atmosphere.
Bodø/Glimt, who have won four of the past five Norwegian titles, impressed with their technical quality and organisation. Hauge, a homegrown talent who has played for Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt, was a constant threat with his balance and finishing. The hosts' fans celebrated at the final whistle, sensing their team had come close to a famous victory.
