Edinson Cavani Set to Leave Manchester United, Father Confirms

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is expected to leave the club this summer, according to his father Luis Cavani. The Uruguayan international joined United on a free transfer last year from Paris Saint-Germain, signing a one-year contract with an option for a further season.

Cavani has made 25 appearances for United this season, scoring seven goals. However, his father revealed that the 34-year-old does not feel comfortable in England and wishes to return to South America to be closer to his family.

Luis Cavani told TyC Sports: 'My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again. My son's idea is not to continue there, he wants to return.' He also criticised United, stating that his son wants to compete for major honours at this stage of his career.

The striker's father confirmed that conversations have taken place with Argentine side Boca Juniors regarding a move at the end of the season. 'Edinson had many conversations with Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca,' Luis Cavani added.

Cavani was handed a three-match ban by the FA earlier this season for a social media post, which his father said 'upset' him. The striker recently returned from injury but missed the Manchester derby due to a minor niggle, as confirmed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
