The second series of the rebooted Jersey crime drama Bergerac has begun airing, featuring a mix of returning cast members and notable newcomers. The show, which holds a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, premiered its latest season on 16 April.
Returning for series two is Damien Molony as Detective Jim Bergerac, alongside Zoë Wanamaker as mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford, Robert Gilbert as Barney Crozier, and Chloé Sweetlove as Kim Bergerac. The original series ran in the 1980s starring John Nettles.
New additions to the cast include Adrian Edmondson, 69, playing Nigel, a charming new presence in Charlie's life. Charles Venn, 63, known for roles in Casualty and Coronation Street, joins as DS Ian Monkford. Lesley Sharp, 66, best known for Scott & Bailey, plays Monica, mother to Michael and Nicola.
Jonathan Aris, 55, who appeared in Sherlock and The Night Manager, takes on the role of Ch. Supt. Richard Gibbon. Turlough Convery, recognised from Killing Eve and Poldark, and Camilla Beeput, known for Footballers' Wives and Peep Show, also join the cast. Georgina Rich, from Heartstopper and Industry, completes the new lineup.
Bergerac is available to stream for free on U and via U on Channel 4.
