Barcelona sporting director Deco has suggested Marcus Rashford was given too much responsibility too young at Manchester United, contributing to his struggles. The 28-year-old, currently on loan at Barcelona, emerged as a teenager under Louis van Gaal in 2016 but has faced inconsistent form and heavy criticism.
Deco told The Times: 'He faced the responsibility of becoming an important player at Man United too young. He suffered a bit with this change of generation at United too.' He added that United's difficulties in rebuilding over the last five years placed extra burden on Rashford.
Rashford has scored six goals during his loan spell, including a double against Newcastle. His loan includes an option to buy, but his long-term future remains uncertain. Deco praised his patience and desire to join Barcelona despite financial constraints.
