Mason Mount has revealed that Ayden Heaven's humour doesn't stop him from being put in his place by his Manchester United teammates. Heaven has impressed for the Red Devils this season after moving to Old Trafford from Arsenal last year.
His impressive displays have led to praise from his teammates throughout what has been a topsy-turvy campaign for his side. The 19-year-old also trained with Thomas Tuchel's senior England squad during the March international break.
It appears that Heaven is a player who doesn't take himself too seriously. When asked by Jamie Redknapp during an interview with Sky Sports who the funniest member of the United dressing room was, Mount had no hesitation in replying: Heaven.
“I don’t want to say it, but it is Ayden,” Mount said. “He is just silly. He is a youngster and he is silly about everything. But you need that around the place and it keeps it very light at the training ground, but sometimes he needs to be put in his place and that happens. But he’s a really good character.”
Mount on Future Managers and On-Field Leaders
Mount touched on a number of subjects during the interview, including who he believes is the most likely United player to become a manager. Although he named Tom Heaton, he went on to reveal how Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire aren't afraid of making their feelings known during games.
“There is definitely someone who comes to mind, I think Tom Heaton,” Mount said. “When we go away on trips, he has got his laptop out doing clips and stuff of the opposition and goalkeepers. He’s really into it, and I definitely think he will be up there.”
He continued: “I think in the game if the team makes little tweaks here and there as a player I look at myself and think I can see that happening. So if they set up and have four at the back but then change in the game, then how can you press and change? Do you bring in the winger in a bit more or press the centre-back? Stuff like that.
“I like to think that my football knowledge is high to see that, and I think that Bruno’s is up there for sure in that sense. As the captain he is very spoken, especially in the changing room at half-time if he sees something that he didn’t like in the first-half he will say it.
“But we have got loads like that. Harry Maguire as well. If we need to change something, then everyone is going to say something.”
Heaven's Impact at Manchester United
Heaven, who joined from Arsenal, has quickly become a fan favourite at Old Trafford. His performances have drawn praise from teammates and pundits alike, and his light-hearted personality has helped maintain a positive atmosphere in the dressing room. Despite his youth, he has shown maturity on the pitch, but off it, his teammates ensure he stays grounded.
The interview with Sky Sports provided a fascinating insight into the dynamics of the Manchester United squad, with Mount highlighting the blend of humour and leadership that defines the team. As the season progresses, Heaven will look to continue his development, while players like Fernandes and Maguire will remain key figures in driving the team forward.
