Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes out for weeks ahead of north London derby

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes will miss the north London derby against Tottenham after sustaining a thigh injury during the international break. The Brazilian could be sidelined until January, dealing a significant blow to Mikel Arteta's side.

Gabriel has started all 11 Premier League matches this season and played every minute under Arteta. With Arsenal leading the table, the manager must now adjust his defence for the clash against fifth-placed Spurs.

Piero Hincapie, a summer signing, is a natural centre-back but has only made two starts due to a groin injury. Another option is 21-year-old Cristhian Mosquera, who impressed against Liverpool and has partnered William Saliba in the Carabao Cup.

Riccardo Calafiori could move from left-back into central defence, with Myles Lewis-Skelly potentially replacing him. Arteta praised Mosquera's adaptation, saying: 'It's not easy to adapt to the league... but Mosquera is a great example.'
