Manchester City secured a historic fourth consecutive FA Cup final appearance with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Southampton at Wembley. The match featured three goals in eight minutes, with Nico González scoring the winner in the 87th minute.
Southampton took the lead in the 79th minute through Finn Azaz, who curled a superb shot into the top corner from 25 yards. The Championship side, unbeaten in 20 matches, looked set for a famous victory as their fans sang 'When the Saints go marching in'.
However, City responded quickly. Substitute Jérémy Doku equalised in the 83rd minute with a deflected shot off James Bree. Then, with three minutes remaining, Nico González unleashed a stunning 30-yard strike that flew into the net, leaving Southampton goalkeeper Daniel Peretz with no chance.
Southampton pushed for an equaliser in seven minutes of added time, with Kuryu Matsuki forcing a save from James Trafford and two corners causing danger. City also had chances, with Savinho's effort cleared off the line after a Doku break.
Pep Guardiola made nine changes from the midweek win at Burnley, with Erling Haaland, Nico O'Reilly, Doku and Bernardo Silva all starting on the bench. Southampton manager Tonda Eckert, in his first head-coach role, expressed pride in his team's performance despite the defeat.
City will face either Chelsea or Leeds in the final next month. Southampton, meanwhile, turn their attention to Tuesday's crucial Championship match against Ipswich, where a win would move them to within one point of the second-placed side.
