Arsenal produced a dominant second-half performance to beat Aston Villa 4-0 at the Emirates, with goals from Gabriel, Martin Zubimendi, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus. The victory ended Villa’s eight-match winning streak and sent a strong message in the Premier League title race.
Villa had the better of the first half, with Ollie Watkins missing a great chance, but the match remained level at the break. Arsenal took the lead shortly after the restart when Gabriel converted a corner with help from Emi Martinez. Zubimendi doubled the lead following a pass from Martin Odegaard, and Trossard added a third after a lengthy VAR check. Substitute Gabriel Jesus curled in the best goal of the match late on.
Mikel Arteta praised his side’s efficiency, saying: “The way we started the second half was amazing, we really turned things up and were efficient in everything that we did.” He added: “It is a beautiful evening. We know what we want in 2026 and we are on the right tracks.”
Elsewhere, Chelsea’s poor run continued with a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth, while Manchester United were held to a disappointing draw by Wolves, who claimed only their third point of the season.
