Arsenal are already planning for the summer transfer window, with the club linked to two high-profile strikers, though both moves face significant hurdles. Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez has been touted as a target, but reports indicate the Argentine forward would favour a move to Barcelona over a return to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old World Cup winner has scored 41 goals in 91 appearances for Atletico and is valued at around £87million. Spanish publication Sport claims Alvarez would prefer to stay in Spain if he leaves Diego Simeone's side. However, Barcelona's financial difficulties in meeting the valuation offer Arsenal some encouragement. Atletico have also reportedly offered Alvarez a new contract, despite his current deal running until 2030.
Meanwhile, Arsenal's pursuit of Inter Milan youngster Pio Esposito appears similarly challenging. The 20-year-old Italy international has impressed this season, registering six goals and six assists in 32 games. Italian outlet Tuttosport reports that Inter are working to renew Esposito's contract after rejecting an earlier offer of around £42m for the striker from an unnamed club.
Arsenal are said to be one of the clubs interested in Esposito as they seek a younger forward to complement their existing options. However, Inter are reportedly prepared to triple his salary to keep him at the club. The Gunners remain top of the Premier League and face Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday.
