Arsenal Stars Trolled by Rivals After Champions League Final Heartbreak
Arsenal Stars Trolled After Champions League Final Loss

Arsenal were beaten in the Champions League final on Saturday night and they were quickly subjected to some brutal trolling from rival players, fans and clubs.

Richarlison Leads the Taunts

Richarlison wasted no time rubbing salt into Arsenal wounds on social media after Tottenham's bitter rivals lost the Champions League final on penalties. The Gunners faced off with Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest in their bid to become European champions for the first time on Saturday night. But despite taking a sixth minute lead through Kai Havertz, Arsenal were left heartbroken in Hungary after the game ended in a penalty shootout with Eberechi Eze and then Gabriel failing to score from 12 yards.

As Arsenal were left to digest their narrow loss, people immediately took to social media to troll them — including Richarlison. The Brazilian shared a clip of a child laughing on his Instagram account minutes after the shootout had concluded, much to the amusement of the Spurs fans following him.

Djed Spence and Erling Haaland Join In

He was not alone in kicking Arsenal while they were down with Djed Spence also mocking a Gunners social media post from the north London derby. The clip, captioned "locked up", showed Spence losing possession following pressure from Cristhian Mosquera and Bukayo Saka. The Spurs wing-back quote tweeted it with an unlocked padlock emoji. Erling Haaland was another player who posted on social media shortly after the end of the game.

Chelsea and Crystal Palace Also Trolled

Chelsea also stuck the boot in by picking the opportune moment to advertise a tour of their Stamford Bridge home ground. In a social media post on X, the Blues shared a large image of the Champions League trophy and referenced their two previous triumphs in the competition, writing: "Come and visit London’s Home of Trophies. Book your Stadium Tour at Stamford Bridge now," alongside the two stars used to represent their victories. Crystal Palace, fresh off winning the Europa Conference League earlier this week, joined in by sharing an image of their celebrations in Leipzig with the caption "European champions".

PSG Midfielder Criticises Arsenal Tactics

PSG midfielder Joao Neves also took aim at Arsenal over their tactics, saying they deserved the win because they were the "only team that wanted to play". He said: "The emotion is there. It's the second time I've been a European champion. It's not even the victory itself that pleases me, but playing with such teammates, this staff, and this management. Coming here was the best decision I've ever made. I love everything here. We deserved it today, because PSG were the only team that wanted to play."
