Bruno Guimaraes scored off the bench to turn the game on its head as Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in their first match back after the international break.
Having waited three weeks to right the wrongs of the Brighton defeat, Arsenal continued to suffer problems, with Leeds dominating the first half. Jayden Bogle and Ethan Ampadu both had attempts saved by David Raya in the hosts' goal, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin ran the Arsenal defence ragged throughout the opening 45 minutes.
At the opposite end, Kai Havertz had a couple of half-chances, but he was part of an attack that lacked potency.
Leeds take the lead
That carried over to the second half when Leeds eventually took the lead, with James Justin rifling home from inside the box to stun the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal dragged themselves back into it, with Riccardo Calafiori squeezing home the leveller. While Bruno Guimaraes scored off the bench to turn the game on its head.
Player ratings
David Raya - 8
Couldn't do much if anything for the Leeds opener, but had been their best player prior to the goal.
Ben White - 6
Just about recovered a poor performance with a clever assist for the Calafiori equaliser. Was subbed off immediately after.
Ezri Konsa - 8
The best of the Arsenal backline. Aware of the constant danger the Leeds attack had been offering and was well positioned to clean up when necessary.
Gabriel - 6
Looked half a yard off it at times, which could be down to the extensive travelling during the international break.
Riccardo Calafiori - 8
Ghosted into the penalty area to link up with his full-back partner, and the shot was too powerful for the Leeds goalkeeper. Came close to a second moments later.
Declan Rice - 7
Fortunate not to have been banned following his rash kick in the Brighton defeat, but demonstrated his importance to Arsenal once again. Provided a delightful flick for the Guimaraes goal.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 6
Provided plenty of energy in the middle of the park, but didn't exactly impact the match.
Martin Odegaard - 7
Had a golden opportunity to take the lead while the score was at 0-0, but hit a tame shot. Grew into the game when Guimaraes came off the bench.
Noni Madueke - 6
Got into plenty of promising positions and created a couple of promising chances.
Kai Havertz - 5
Didn't look fit at all. Was so easy to defend against, and on the half-chances he did get, the German lacked any sort of conviction.
Bukayo Saka - 6
It wasn't for a lack of trying, but just couldn't get anything to stick.
Substitutes
Bruno Guimaraes - 8
Changed the game. Arsenal were so passive in midfield before his introduction, but the Brazil international changed all of that. Started the move that led to his goal with a nutmeg and finished it with a stylish strike.
Viktor Gyokeres - 6
Offered much more at the tip of the attack than team-mate Havertz. Was giving the Leeds defenders something to think about.
Jurrien Timber - 6
Solid on the right-hand side.
Piero Hincapie - 6
No issues after coming on with 10 minutes to play.
