Viktor Gyokeres has suggested he could remain at Sporting Lisbon despite strong interest from Arsenal and Manchester United. The Swedish striker, who scored 54 goals in 52 games last season, has a release clause of £84 million, but Sporting would reportedly accept around £60 million.
Gyokeres, 27, previously played for Brighton and Coventry City in England. However, he has expressed his love for life in Lisbon, describing it as 'one of the best cities in Europe' and saying he feels 'at home'. His family also enjoy the city, with his uncle Chris stating after a recent cup win: 'Yesterday at dinner we decided that he has to stay.'
Sporting vice-president Francisco Salgado Zenha confirmed no formal offers have been received for Gyokeres, who has three years left on his contract. 'We want to keep the best players and retain talent,' Zenha said.
Gyokeres recently withdrew from international duty due to injury. Both Arsenal and Manchester United are seeking to strengthen their attacking options in the summer transfer window.
