Arsenal remain favourites with bookmakers to win the Premier League title, despite sitting behind Manchester City in the table.
The reigning champions moved level on points with City on Saturday after a comeback win over Leeds at the Emirates Stadium. City restored their three-point lead on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over 10-man Liverpool at Anfield, their first match since being found guilty by an independent commission of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League's financial rules over nine seasons.
Appeal and Title Race Uncertainty
City deny the charges and have launched an appeal, but it is unclear whether a resolution will be reached before the season ends. Speaking after City's win over Liverpool, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher discussed the title race in light of the appeal.
"Manchester City right now are the best team in the league, they're at the top," he said. "There's no way Manchester City can be allowed to win the league this year, if they're found guilty.
"That cannot happen, the Premier League used the word 'sham' about the last eight years, but we didn't know it at the time, it's only afterwards that we know it.
"We know it now, we are watching it. That today, what does it mean going forward? This has to be done before the end of the season, there's no way this can carry on until the end of the season because, as I said, we're all getting kidded."
Betting Odds Favour Arsenal
Based on that statement, Carragher can take encouragement from the latest betting odds, which have Arsenal as favourites to win the title ahead of Man City for a second consecutive season. Arsenal were odds-on favourites when the Premier League announced the guilty verdict last month, and bookmakers Betfair have Mikel Arteta's side at 4/9 to be celebrating again in May 2027.
