Arsenal will not be in Pot 1 for the Champions League draw next season, as confirmed by the latest UEFA club coefficient rankings. The Gunners, currently 22nd in the rankings, will be placed in Pot 2 for the revamped competition, which introduces a league format replacing the traditional group stage.
The 2024/25 Champions League will feature 36 teams, up from 32, with each club playing eight matches against eight different opponents—four at home and four away. The draw on August 29 will split qualified teams into four seeding pots based on UEFA coefficients, with the holders automatically in Pot 1.
Manchester City and Liverpool are among the nine clubs in Pot 1, while Arsenal joins Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and others in Pot 2. Aston Villa, returning to European competition, is likely to be in Pot 4 but could move to Pot 3 depending on qualification results.
The new format reduces the emphasis on seedings, as teams will face two opponents from each pot. Arsenal could potentially play top sides like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Juventus in the league phase. The top eight finishers advance directly to the last 16, while teams placed ninth to 24th enter a play-off round.
