Liverpool agree British record deal for Wirtz as Arsenal close in on Zubimendi

Liverpool have agreed a British record deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz, with the transfer set to exceed £110m. The German playmaker is expected to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of an official announcement, having been spotted travelling to the UK. The Reds are also reportedly ready to move for Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez, with the Cherries set to receive £45m for the Hungarian left-back.

Arsenal, meanwhile, continue to work on signing a new striker, with Benjamin Sesko making strides towards a move to the Emirates. The Gunners are also close to their first confirmed deal of the summer for Martin Zubimendi. Another target, Viktor Gyokeres, could yet end up in the Premier League amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, with the Sweden forward having turned down clear-the-air talks with current club Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester United's attempts to sign Bryan Mbeumo have hit the buffers, with Tottenham determined to reunite him with new boss Thomas Frank. Elsewhere, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has insisted that Noni Madueke is not for sale despite reported interest from Arsenal, saying: "Noni is our player. We consider Noni our player for next season."
