Ruben Amorim has expressed confidence that Benjamin Sesko will adapt to life at Manchester United despite the striker's slow start since his £73.7m move from RB Leipzig. Sesko has scored only twice in 11 appearances, leading to mounting scrutiny from pundits and fans.
The United head coach acknowledged the difficulty for a young player in handling public criticism, advising Sesko to accept it as a normal part of football. “He’s going to struggle,” Amorim said. “The ability to understand that this is normal and maintain your confidence is really hard for a kid, especially one that wants to control everything.”
Sesko is known for his meticulous preparation, often arriving at the training ground at 8am and leaving as late as 4pm. After a recent 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest, former United defender Gary Neville claimed the striker was “miles off it,” a comment Amorim acknowledged could affect players. “Nobody likes to hear that,” he said. “My advice is you are going to get used to it and then it’s going to be natural – be like your Monday here.”
Amorim also suggested that captain Bruno Fernandes may need to accept rotation next season if United qualify for European competition. “If you want to win every game and have European games, I’m going to rotate,” he said. “So for Bruno to put in his head that maybe next year he’s going to be in rotation.”
Regarding midfielder Casemiro, whose contract expires in the summer, Amorim stated that a decision will be made at the end of the season, similar to Harry Maguire’s situation. “We don’t know what is going to happen,” he added.
