Amorim had previously indicated a difference of opinion with the club hierarchy over recruitment, saying, 'If we have to play a perfect 3-4-3, we need to spend a lot of money... I'm starting to understand that is not going to happen.' However, he declined to elaborate further in his pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, United loanee Harry Amass is reportedly attracting interest from several Championship clubs after impressing at Sheffield Wednesday. Stoke City are said to be leading a 12-club battle for his signature. Amass has made 20 appearances for the Owls this season.
Amass recently reacted to Amorim's comments that the defender was 'struggling' at Wednesday by posting a picture of himself with the club's player of the month award, which was later deleted. Amorim defended his remarks, saying he was highlighting the different realities players face.
