Ruben Amorim has admitted he made 'a lot of mistakes' during his 15-month tenure as Manchester United head coach, which ended in January. The 41-year-old, now in charge of AC Milan, reflected on his Old Trafford spell in an interview with Sky Italy, stating that the experience has made him a better manager and person.
Amorim was appointed by United in October 2024 following Erik ten Hag's departure but was replaced by Michael Carrick at the turn of the year. He won 25 of his 63 matches in charge, suffering 23 defeats. 'When you do this kind of reflection, and you understand that it was not just their fault, but also my fault, I think you can be a better coach and a better man,' he said.
Since leaving United, Amorim has taken over at AC Milan, a club he has supported since childhood. He described the move as 'a dream' and emphasised his desire to rebuild the Serie A side. 'I was really honoured to be the manager of Man United at the time, but now I'm at Milan,' he added.
Amorim also praised Milan's organisation and staff, noting that he is focused on creating a new future for the club rather than dwelling on the past. His comments come as he prepares for the start of the new Serie A season.
