Bad Bunny wipes Instagram after Super Bowl performance amid MAGA backlash

Bad Bunny has deleted all posts from his Instagram account, sparking speculation about his next move. The Puerto Rican rapper, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, cleared his feed hours after his Super Bowl halftime show performance, leaving only a link to his latest album in his bio.

The deletion comes amid backlash from MAGA supporters, who criticised the mostly Spanish-language performance that ended with a pan-American call for unity. Donald Trump posted on Truth Social calling the show “absolutely terrible” and “an affront to the Greatness of America.” Boxer Jake Paul also initially criticised the performance but later backtracked after his brother intervened.

Some social media users speculated that Bad Bunny removed his posts for “damage control” due to the criticism. However, fans noted that the artist has previously wiped his Instagram before releasing new music. One wrote on X, “He always does that when he closes a chapter in his career, and it means something big is coming.”

Bad Bunny’s latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, was released last year and recently became the first Spanish-language record to win Album of the Year at the Grammys. The clean slate has led many to believe a new era is imminent.
