Hawthorn Dominate Adelaide to Reach Preliminary Final

Hawthorn have secured a spot in the AFL preliminary final with a commanding 34-point victory over Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. The Hawks' win was built on a blistering start, kicking the first three goals within four minutes, and a dominant midfield performance led by Jai Newcombe, who had 28 disposals and eight clearances.

Jack Gunston was instrumental, booting five goals, while Nick Watson and Sam Butler added two each. The Hawks' ball movement and efficiency in the forward half proved too much for the Crows, who became the first minor premiers in 42 years to be eliminated in straight sets.

Adelaide fought back to level terms in the first quarter but were outplayed thereafter. Despite late goals from Jake Soligo and Josh Rachele, the Crows could not bridge the gap. Hawthorn now face Geelong in the preliminary final next Friday night at the MCG.

The Crows' season ends in disappointment, having failed to win a quarter in either final. They will look to rebound next season after reaching the top eight for the first time since 2017.
