Abbey Clancy Shows Support for Husband Peter Crouch at Anfield Charity Match
Model Abbey Clancy demonstrated her unwavering support for husband Peter Crouch as she enthusiastically cheered him on during a Legends charity football match at Liverpool's iconic Anfield stadium this past Saturday. The 40-year-old beauty, who has been married to the 45-year-old former professional footballer for 15 years, appeared every bit the proud wife while watching from the stands as his team faced off against Borussia Dortmund.
Chic Outfit and Crowd Presence
For the special outing, Abbey cut a chic and fashionable figure, donning a stylish brown faux-fur coat and trendy black cat-eye sunglasses. She was seen sitting comfortably with friends in the crowd, fully engaged in the match proceedings. On the pitch, the Liverpool legends squad was held to a 2-2 draw by a team of Borussia Dortmund greats, making for an exciting and competitive charity event.
Valentine's Day Surprise Gone Wrong
This public display of support comes shortly after Abbey revealed a highly amusing and somewhat embarrassing Valentine's Day surprise that went horribly wrong. Speaking on their popular podcast, The Therapy Crouch, the model explained that she had planned a romantic evening for Peter by dressing in skimpy lingerie from Agent Provocateur and covering up with a mac coat to create a surprise.
However, her carefully laid plans were thwarted when Peter unexpectedly invited a chef to their home to cook a special meal for them. Abbey found herself sweating in her coat throughout the entire dinner, unable to reveal her outfit without causing embarrassment. She recounted, "That was the worst surprise ever because I got a gorgeous outfit from Agent Provocateur and just put it on with a coat on top. And Pete was like 'Surprise! We've got a chef'. So I had to just wear my coat for the whole dinner at home."
Awkward Dinner Conversation
Peter kept asking if she was hot in the coat, not realizing why she was so reluctant to remove it. By the time he understood the situation, it was too late to ask the chef to leave without appearing rude. Peter humorously recalled, "He wouldn't go away as well. You know when they come over and they want to explain the meal. It's like 'p*** off mate, will you'. I want to see what's underneath."
Perspective on Romance and Pressure
The mother-of-four, who shares four children with Peter, added that Valentine's nights at home can be just as romantic as going out, and couples shouldn't feel pressured on February 14th. She emphasized, "That is nice, to stay in, if you can ship the kids off. There's just so much pressure sometimes, love doesn't cost a thing." Peter agreed, noting that social media platforms like Instagram have created additional pressure to compare romantic gestures.
Previous Mac Coat Incidents
This wasn't the first time Abbey has used a mac coat in an attempt to surprise her husband. She revealed that she once picked up Peter from training wearing nothing but a Burberry trench coat to persuade him to come home. Peter admitted this tactic "worked very well" in getting him off the football pitch quickly.
Failed Stripper Surprise
Another romantic surprise attempt also ended in disaster when Abbey hired a stripper for one of Peter's birthdays. Peter, who was playing for Liverpool and England at the time, was mortified when the stripper arrived at a restaurant in Liverpool with other patrons present. He recalled, "We were in a restaurant in Liverpool with loads of random people and all of a sudden this stripper turned up, starts gyrating. I'm playing for Liverpool and England at the time and everyone started filming." He quickly gave her cash and asked her to leave, describing the entire situation as highly embarrassing.
Despite these humorous mishaps, the couple maintains a strong and loving relationship, with Abbey continuing to support Peter's charitable endeavors and football activities. They prefer simple gestures like cards and flowers rather than extravagant gifts, focusing on the genuine connection that has sustained their 15-year marriage.
