Aaron Rai of England has won the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club with a sensational final round performance. The 31-year-old from Wombourne, Staffordshire, captured his first major title in Pennsylvania after shooting a 65 to finish at 9-under par over four days.
A Stunning Victory
Rai shared a heartfelt hug with his caddie Jason Timmis after putting in for par at the 18th hole, before embracing his wife Gaurika Bishnoi. The world number 44 delivered a remarkable back-nine performance to emerge from a group of big names that included Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
Heading into the final round two shots behind leader Alex Smalley, Rai took advantage of his rivals faltering. An eagle and six birdies helped him overturn the deficit, with one of the birdies coming in spectacular fashion on the 17th hole from roughly 30 feet.
Historic Achievement
Rai's triumph makes him the first Englishman to win the PGA Championship since Jim Barnes in 1919. Matthias Schmid finished in joint-third with Justin Thomas, while Jon Rahm took second place and Rory McIlroy ended in fifth.
This victory marks a massive shock in the golfing world, as Rai claimed the Wanamaker Trophy against a field of established champions. His composure and skill under pressure have earned him a place in golf history.
