Matt Fitzpatrick and his brother Alex made history by becoming the first siblings to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a team event on the PGA Tour. The Sheffield duo clinched victory with a crucial birdie on the final hole, finishing at 31 under par and narrowly avoiding a three-way playoff.
Historic Achievement
Alex Fitzpatrick's win earned him a PGA Tour card through 2028, along with exemptions to the next four Signature Events, the US PGA Championship, and the 2027 Players Championship. For Matt, this victory marked a significant personal milestone: he became the first player in over two years to win back-to-back PGA Tour events and the first Englishman to secure three wins in a single American season.
Challenging Final Round
Despite starting the final round with a four-stroke lead, the brothers faced a difficult day, including a double bogey and a bogey. However, Matt's excellent bunker shot set up Alex's decisive tap-in on the final hole, sealing their historic win.
