A 4.1 magnitude earthquake hit Murcia in southeastern Spain at 11:59 a.m. local time on August 2, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
Shaking felt across three provinces
The tremor was also felt in neighbouring Alicante, a popular holiday destination for British tourists, and Albacete, the institute reported.
Emergency services deluged with calls
Emergency services have been flooded with calls following the earthquake, with reports also coming in from Alicante, close to Benidorm.
