Manchester United have completed the signing of midfielder David Eze from Manchester City, while former United goalkeeper David de Gea has playfully questioned what the verdict on City's 115 charges means for his Premier League title collection.
David Eze joins Manchester United from City
United have secured the 16-year-old on a deal that includes a pre-professional contract, meaning he will turn professional upon turning 17. The Manchester Evening News reported in July that the transfer was nearing completion.
Eze becomes the latest City youngster to move to Old Trafford, following fellow teenager Karrim Cassim just days earlier. A United club statement said: "Talented youngster David Eze has joined Manchester United. The central midfielder has joined the club after leaving Manchester City.
"The 16-year-old, who progressed through the academy system at City, has also been capped by England at youth level. Everyone wishes David the best of luck at United and welcomes him to the club."
De Gea questions Premier League titles tally
De Gea, 35, responded to City being found guilty of 114 of 115 charges regarding alleged financial breaches between 2009 and 2018. City have consistently denied the allegations and will have the right to appeal.
In a statement, City said: "The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such Manchester City FC's position remains consistent with the Club's statement of February 2023."
The Spanish international won the league with United in 2013 but finished second to City in 2012, 2018 and 2021. Writing on X, De Gea said: "So...... Let's talk. How many Premier League titles have I won then?"
De Gea spent 12 years at United, making 545 appearances and winning the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Premier League. After a year away from football, he joined Fiorentina in 2024 and remains first-choice for the Italian club.
