Alisha Lehmann tried to lift the spirits of her Love Island star fiance Montel McKenzie after he was sent off and ridiculed online, taking him on a beach day out where she wore a tiny bikini.
Red card and online mockery
McKenzie, a 28-year-old full-back, was shown a second yellow card late in AFC Whyteleafe's 3-0 Isthmian Premier League defeat to Burgess Hill, in front of a crowd of 729. The red card came after he argued with the referee.
Burgess Hill's social media account posted a taunt, saying: “Love island reject Montel McKenzie is sent off for Whyteleafe for something he said to the referee.” The post was seen over 1.1 million times and liked by 17,000 accounts. Fans joined in, with one commenting: “Ref pulled him for a chat.”
Beach day and engagement
McKenzie and Lehmann, who have been public about their relationship for seven months, headed to Brighton for the day. They shared a selfie in a lift, and later McKenzie photographed Lehmann swimming in the sea in a black bikini.
The couple met through the Baller League and went public in January. McKenzie proposed with a diamond ring. They have spent the summer together, including a trip to Lehmann's native Switzerland, where they took part in 'Aare Bootle' on the Aare River.
