Six-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy has revealed his heartbreak over missing the Paris 2024 Olympics as he continues his battle with cancer. The cycling icon, who was diagnosed last year, shared an emotional update on his health journey.
Olympic Champion's Health Struggle
The 48-year-old Scottish athlete disclosed that he's currently undergoing treatment, which has forced him to step back from public appearances. "It's been incredibly tough," Hoy admitted. "The Olympics have been such a huge part of my life, and not being there in Paris will feel strange."
Treatment Progress
While Hoy remains optimistic about his recovery, he acknowledged the challenges of cancer treatment. "The support from fans and fellow athletes has been overwhelming," he said. "It's what keeps me going on the difficult days."
Paris Olympics Absence
The cycling legend confirmed he won't be attending the upcoming Games, where he had been expected to play an ambassadorial role. "My focus needs to be on recovery right now," Hoy explained. "But I'll be cheering on Team GB from home."
Hoy's absence will be particularly poignant as Paris prepares to host the cycling events at the same velodrome where he won two of his Olympic gold medals in 2012.
