Mauritian cyclist Kim Le Court delivered a masterclass performance to claim victory in Stage Five of the Tour de France Femmes, leaving her rivals trailing in her wake. The 26-year-old, riding for AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step, executed a perfectly timed breakaway to cross the line first in a thrilling finish.
A Tactical Triumph
Le Court broke away early in the 126km stage from Onet-le-Château to Albi, forming part of a strong lead group. As the race progressed, she demonstrated both endurance and tactical intelligence, conserving energy before launching a decisive attack in the final kilometres.
Dominance in the Breakaway
The peloton, led by pre-race favourites, failed to reel in the breakaway, allowing Le Court to power to victory. "I knew I had to stay patient and pick my moment," she said after the stage. "This win means everything to me and my team."
Standings Shake-Up
While Le Court celebrated her stage win, the general classification saw minimal changes. Defending champion Demi Vollering (SD Worx) retained the yellow jersey, though her lead was trimmed slightly by rival Lotte Kopecky.
The Tour de France Femmes continues with Stage Six, a 122km route from Albi to Blagnac, promising more high-octane racing as the world's best female cyclists battle for supremacy.
