Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australia ODI Squad, Matt Renshaw Called Up

Marnus Labuschagne has been omitted from Australia's one-day international squad for the three-match series against India, with Queensland team-mate Matt Renshaw earning a surprise call-up.

The 31-year-old Labuschagne managed only one run in each innings during the series against South Africa in August and has a top score of 47 in his last ten ODI innings. He will now focus on regaining his Test place ahead of the Ashes starting on 21 November.

Renshaw, who last featured in an ODI squad in 2022, is in line for his white-ball international debut after scoring a century for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield. The left-hander has played 14 Tests but is also eyeing a red-ball recall.

Mitchell Starc returns for the ODIs after being rested, while big-hitter Mitchell Owen could make his debut. Pat Cummins remains sidelined with a back injury, and Glenn Maxwell will miss the T20 series due to a wrist injury. Mitch Marsh will captain both sides.

Chair of selectors George Bailey said the squad selection balances preparation for the Ashes and the T20 World Cup.
