Indonesian cricketer Gede Priandana has achieved a monumental first in the sport's history, securing an unprecedented five-wicket haul in a single over during a T20 International match.
A Historic Over Seals Victory
The 28-year-old right-arm seamer produced a spellbinding performance on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, single-handedly dismantling Cambodia's batting line-up. His extraordinary seven-ball over, which included a wide, not only completed a hat-trick but also secured a comprehensive 60-run victory for Indonesia in the series opener.
The Breakdown of a Record-Breaking Spell
With Cambodia on 106 for 5 and chasing a target of 168, Priandana was brought on to bowl the 16th over. What followed was a display of ruthless efficiency. He dismissed Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljit Singh and Chanthoeun Rathanak with three successive deliveries to claim his hat-trick. A dot ball followed, before he removed Mongdara Sok and Pel Vennak with the final two legitimate balls of the over, separated by a wide. Cambodia were bundled out for 107.
A "Symbol" of Indonesia's Cricket Ascent
Cricket Indonesia chairman, Abhiram Singh Yadav, hailed the achievement as a landmark moment for the nation's sporting development. Speaking to BBC Sport, he stated the performance demonstrated both match-winning execution and the ability to produce "world-class moments".
"Five wickets in one over is a symbol of discipline, courage and the training standards we continue to build," Yadav said. "This is not the finish line. This is a sign that Indonesian cricket is levelling up."
While bowlers like Bangladesh's Al-Amin Hossain and India's Abhimanyu Mithun have taken five wickets in an over in domestic T20 competitions, Priandana's feat is the first of its kind at the full international level. Previously, there have been 14 instances of bowlers taking four wickets in an over in international matches, a list that includes Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga's four-in-four against New Zealand in 2019.
Priandana's remarkable over has instantly become one of cricket's most iconic individual performances, firmly placing Indonesian cricket on the global map.
