Bellamy Breaks Silence on Grand Final Meltdown

Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy has opened up about his viral meltdown during the NRL Grand Final, admitting he 'lost it' as his team nearly squandered a 22-0 lead against the Penrith Panthers.

Bellamy was filmed swearing and attacking a chair in the coaching box at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on Saturday night. The outburst came after two Storm players were sent to the sin bin and Penrith's Nathan Cleary crossed the try line, narrowing the score to 26-20.

'Things started falling apart and I lost it. I haven't seen it on TV but everyone's telling me about it,' Bellamy told the Daily Telegraph. 'I look like a bit of a d***head taking it out on the chair.'

The veteran coach, who has led the Storm to four premierships, said his outbursts are a way of letting off steam. 'It's frustration, it's pressure and it's emotion. There's no hiding from it,' he said.

Bellamy will spend the next two days on the Sunshine Coast before visiting his daughter on the Gold Coast. He is considering his coaching future amid interest from the Brisbane Broncos.
